FAQs
I haven’t actually been asked any questions yet. However, I feel that the following are likely to be asked so have pre-empted them.

How do you determine your lays?
It’s a combination of statistical analysis and application of a methodology that has taken me a number of years to fine tune. Opinion also comes into it; it’s not a black and white ‘mechanical’ approach by any means.

Do you lay these yourself?
Yes. I started off with a small bank and re-invested profits. I’m continuing to grow my Betfair pot so only take small ‘dividend’ payments.

If you’re so good, why are you selling these?
Firstly, see the above answer. As I’m not yet making a full time living from laying, selling my selections in order to cover my monthly personal fixed costs makes great sense. Plus, the small number of people I want to work with means that Betfair prices aren’t going to be affected.

How good are these lays?
History starts with this trial. There is no point in me providing long lists of previous successful selections. I might have made them up. The proof of the pudding, in this case, is in the trial results. I achieve a strike-rate percentage that varies between the very high 80s and low 90s with a ROI of around 40%. The average losing BSP (Betfair starting price) is less than 9/2.

Small membership? How small?
Initially, I’m looking for a relatively small group of members. Should you miss out, I will generate a waiting list, in the event a place becomes available.

How do you calculate your results?
All successful lays are shown in the results as +0.95 and all unsuccessful lays are shown in the results at BSP. This is probably the most pessimistic (but ultimately most realistic) way of recording results.

Do you win every day?
No. But with the strike-rate I achieve, winning days are far more frequent than losing days. I aim to make an average of one point profit a day, based upon a seven-day week for 48 weeks of the year; this covers holidays and the odd no-advice day.

What’s the cost?
As I said above, I’m only looking to work with a very small number of people. This will protect the price of the selections and has the advantage of minimising administration time. With regards to cost, it will be less than a daily copy of the Racing Post and a takeaway coffee. Initial subscription may be by cheque but ongoing membership will be by standing order. A SO arrangement gives the member the most control.

Do you advise selections every day?
I work through all UK day/evening cards every day. Occasionally there will be days with no selections. I still send e-mails on a no-selection day.

When do you send the mail?
Members e-mails will be sent by 1030 every day. This gives adequate time, in the event of ISP issues, for the member to contact me by other means. See below. During the trial, mails will be issued before the race time of the first selection.

What do I do if I can’t access my e-mails?
On an ad-hoc basis, I would be happy to provide selection advices to members by phone, as a temporary measure.

What support do you offer?
Members will be given a dedicated contact telephone number and my private e-mail address.

Do you recommend a bank size?
I’ve thought long and hard about this. I don’t recommend any particular size bank. This is something you should determine for yourself, based upon the witnessed trial results and your own personal attitude to risk. For reference, I use a 150 point bank, stake a single point per lay (so variable risk) and never lay above a certain price. Very, very few selections end up around my ceiling price (though all that have, have so far lost). Please note that all selections are counted in published results.

I can’t sit by the computer all day, what do you recommend?
There is no need to sit by the computer all day. These lays can be placed as soon as you receive the mail, either by computer or phone. There are no time or price conditions attached to the selections. I’m happy to recommend (as I use it and it works very well) Mark Baker’s software, www.laybotpro.com Other than being a satisfied user, I have no affiliation to Mark’s product nor do I receive any payment for sending people his way. You can download a copy for a free limited period trial.

Do you have a staking plan?
No plan as such. No recovery staking. No Fibonacci staking. No maximum bets. No five point bankers. A simple one point per lay from (my personal preference of) a 150 point level stake bank. I’ve long been of the opinion that fancy staking plans are window dressing for losing approaches.

The best way to take part is to e-mail me on waalays@hotmail.co.uk and I’ll add you to the distribution.
